Wood Fence

The traditional pick is always going to be the wooden fence no matter how you look at it. If you have the right type of wood and you do decent maintenance on these fences they can look great for a long time. We know that some people shy away from these types of fences because of the maintenance needs, but there is a different way of looking at things. Plus, there are many homes and even businesses that truly do benefit greatly from the traditional look and feel of these types of fences.

What Type Of Wood Do You Use In These Fences?
We could use all sorts of different types of woods from a variety of trees. We’re usually working with pine, cedar, redwood amongst other options. If you have a particular preference over the type of wood that you would want us to use in your fence by all means let us know. Also, more and more we’ve been using wood hybrids to create these types of fences. For the most part, this is essentially modified wood that’s going to be able to hold up much better against the elements and everything we’ll see it face every day. The type of wood that we use could make the cost of the fence vary.

Paint or Stain For Wooden Fences
Should you be painting should you be staining? What should you be doing to keep your wooden fence looking great? Well, really that’s going to depend on the type of wood that we’re dealing with and the type of finish that you want. Many times people want to keep the natural wood coloring and so we’ll just add a particular coating to make sure that we’re able to keep the natural colors of the wood looking fresh. Again, it really depends on what you’re going for.

Wooden or Vinyl What Works Best?
There is a debate about this in some circles. Right off the bat we always say that there is room for both of these types of fences. Wood does require a little bit more care and in many ways you know what you’re getting. With vinyl, the main concern is creating a cheesy or just all-around unclassy design. Some homeowners’ poor taste in many ways has given vinyl fences a bad reputation. If you like what you see though, why does it matter what others think?

Upgrading Existing Wooden Fences
Do you have an existing wooden fence that has certainly seen better days? We may be able to help out. Give us a call and a chance to check out your fence. From there we’ll let you know what we feel could be done to try and upgrade it. We want to be very honest with these evaluations without wanting to push you one way or the other. There are fences out there that are mostly beyond repair while others that had good years left in them end up being scrapped. That’s just life in many ways.
